1) INCAA invites India to participate in Argentina’s Mar del Plata Film Festival and Ventana Sur 2019 

Daily Current Affairs 8 September 2019 Daily News TellerThe Indian Delegation met Ms. Viviana A. Dirolli, Executive Director, & Mr. Diego Marambio Avaria, International Affairs Coordinator, INCAA (Instituto Nacional de Cine y Artes Audiovisuales) - the National Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual Arts, Argentina. The objective of the meeting was to seek out INCAA’s help to reach out to Argentina Government for IFFI 2019, the potential of exchange between the countries and the possibility of a co-production treaty between India & Argentina. Indian Delegation apprised them about all the policy initiatives & framework of Indian Government, ease of shooting and launch of the Web portal – www.ffo.gov.in - for online application for shooting at a single point. Further, they were notified of the preparations that were undertaken by the Government for the 50th anniversary of the IFFI.

INCAA expressed that India should participate in the premiere film festival of Argentina -  Mar del Plata International Film Festival 2019 and also in Ventana Sur 2019, which is attended by the entire Latin American community, with a possible Indian Delegation to Argentina to initiate dialogue on co-production between the two countries.

2) Constitution of the task force for drawing up the National Infrastructure Pipeline of Rs. 100 Lakh Crore from FY 2019-20 to FY 2024-25

The availability of quality infrastructure is a pre-requisite to achieve broad-based and inclusive growth on a sustainable basis. Investment in infrastructure is also necessary for sustaining the high growth rate of India.

To achieve the GDP of $5 trillion by 2024-25, India needs to spend about $1.4 trillion (Rs. 100 lakh crore) over these years on infrastructure. In the past decade (FY 2008-17), India invested about $1.1 trillion on infrastructure. The challenge is to step-up annual infrastructure investment so that lack of infrastructure does not become a binding constraint on the growth of the Indian economy.

To achieve this task, a Task Force under the chairmanship of Secretary (DEA) has been constituted by Union Finance Minister to draw up a National Infrastructure Pipeline for each of the years from FY 2019-20 to FY 2024-25 as below

3) President of India Inaugurates National Youth Summit

The President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind, inaugurated the National Youth Summit in New Delhi on September 7, 2019, organized by the Youth Awakening Mission, a youth wing of Paavan Chintan Dhara Charitable Trust, Ghaziabad.

4) 1st conference of Military Medicine for the SCO Member States to be held in New Delhi on 12 – 13 September 2019

The first conference of Military Medicine for Shanghai Co-operation Organisation (SCO) Member States will be held here on 12 – 13 September 2019. The conference will be the first Military co-operation event hosted by India, under the SCO Defence Co-operation Plan 2019-2020, after it became an SCO Member State in 2017.

The conference will be conducted by the Indian Armed Forces under the aegis of Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff (HQ IDS), with the aim to share best practices in the field of military medicine, build capacities and overcome common challenges.

6) Genomic grid for India ­specific cancer research

In a move to take cancer research to the next level and make treatment viable for people of different economic classes, the government has plans to set up a National Genomic Grid, which will study genomic data of cancer patients from India, The grid to be formed will be in line with the National Cancer Tissue Biobank (NCTB) set up at the Indian Indian Institute of Technology, Madras and will collect samples from cancer patients to study genomic factors influencing cancer and identifying the right treatment modalities for the Indian population.

7) South Africa has temporarily closed its diplomatic missions in Nigeria

South Africa has temporarily closed its diplomatic missions in Nigeria following reprisal attacks by Nigerians triggered by xenophobic violence in South Africa. South Africa's Foreign Minister, Naledi Pandor, called the violence an embarrassment for her country.

8) Venkaiah Naidu addressed the National Conference on India-Africa Partnership in a Changing Global Order

The Vice President of India Shri Venkaiah Naidu addressed the valedictory session of the national conference on 2019 'India-Africa Partnership in a Changing Global Order-Priorities, Prospects and Challenges' in New Delhi organized by Indian Council of World Affairs (ICWA). During the conference Shri Naidu released two books on the Indian Council of World Affairs (ICWA) named "Shakti Ki Manyata- Samyukta Rashtra Suraksha Parishad" written by Dilip Sinha and "Bharat Aur European Sangh: Ek Antarangik Drishtikon" by Bhaswati Mukherjee.

9) The position of India in 2019 world travel & tourism competitiveness index is 34

According to the recent Travel & Tourism Competitiveness Index (TTCI) for the year 2019 released by the World Economic Forum(WEF) on September 4, 2019, India was ranked at the 34th spot, an improvement by 6 places from the 2017 report (40th rank). The index was topped by Spain followed by France and Germany in the second and third places respectively. Japan ranked 4th overall, topped the list in the Asia-Pacific region for the most competitive travel and tourism economy, whereas Pakistan which ranks 134th place overall, was ranked at 121st place in Asia Pacific Region (South Asia) making it the least tourism competitive country.

India and South Korea signed two Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) during Defence Minister Rajnath Singh's visit to the East Asian nation. These agreements will help enhance defense cooperation between India-Republic of Korea 

11) The First National Conference on Cyber Crime Investigation and Cyber Forensics held in New Delhi

The Director of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Rishi Kumar Shukla inaugurated the first National Conference on Cyber Crime Investigation and Cyber Forensics in New Delhi at the CBI headquarters. It was a 2-day conference held on September 4-5, 2019. It included one of the mandates of CBI which notifies to investigate crimes with inter-state & international ramifications. It aimed to create a platform and bring together investigators, lawyers, forensic experts, and academia to discuss challenges related to cybercrime and ways to find solutions.

12) NDB to provide Rs 6,000 crore loan to Andhra Pradesh for social infrastructure projects

New Development Bank (NDB) will provide a loan of Rs 6,000 crore to Andhra Pradesh for various social infrastructure projects in the state. The amount will be utilized for road development and other infrastructure projects in rural areas. Out of the total Rs 6,000 crore, 30 percent has to be borne by the State government and the loan has to be repaid in 32 years. The New Development Bank was set up in 2015 by BRICS nations. The Shanghai-based Bank has lent over Rs 75,000 crore to the various projects to date all over the world and Rs 25,000 crores in India alone.
