1) Inauguration of Motihari-Amlekhganj petroleum products pipeline by PM Modi and PM Oli of Nepal
- Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Prime Minister of Nepal, Right Hon'ble K.P. Sharma Oli today jointly inaugurated South Asia’s first cross-border petroleum products pipeline from Motihari in India to Amlekhgunj in Nepal
- The 69-km Motihari-Amlekhgunj pipeline, having a capacity of 2 million metric tons per annum, will provide cleaner petroleum products at an affordable cost to the people of Nepal. The announcement made by Prime Minister Oli to reduce the price of petroleum products by Rs. 2 per litre in Nepal by the project.

2) PM Narendra Modi to inaugurate India’s second Multi-Modal Terminal on Ganga at Sahibganj in Jharkhand
- The Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will dedicate to the nation India’s second riverine Multi-Modal terminal built at Sahibganj in Jharkhand on 12 September 2019. The Prime Minister will inaugurate the state of the art terminal through a two -way digital communication system at an event in Ranchi, Jharkhand.
- Built for Rs 290 crores in a record time of about two years, the Prime Minister himself had laid the foundation stone of IWAI’s Sahibganj multimodal terminal in April 2017. This is the second of the three Multi-Modal Terminals being constructed on river Ganga under Jal Marg Vikas Project (JMVP). Earlier, in November 2018 the Prime Minister had inaugurated the MMT at Varanasi.
- The Multi-Modal terminal at Sahibganj will open up industries of Jharkhand and Bihar to the global market and provide Indo-Nepal cargo connectivity through the route of the waterway. It will play an important role in the transportation of domestic coal from the local mines in the Rajmahal area to various thermal power plants located along NW-1. Other than coal, stone chips, fertilizers, cement, and sugar are other commodities expected to be transported through the terminal.
- The multi-modal terminal will also help to create direct employment of about 600 people and indirect employment of about 3000 people in the region. The convergence of Road-Rail-River Transport at Sahibganj through the new multi-modal terminal will connect this part of the hinterland to Kolkata, Haldia and further to the Bay of Bengal. Also, Sahibganj will get connected to the North-East States through Bangladesh by the river-sea route.
- The multi-modal terminal will also help to create direct employment of about 600 people and indirect employment of about 3000 people in the region. - The capacity of the terminal is 30 lakh tonnes per annum. It will grow to 54.8 lakh tonnes per annum after an investment of Rs 376 crores for capacity enhancement in Phase II under PPP mode.

About Multi-Modal Terminal
The MMTs are being built as part of the Jal Marg Vikas Project that aims to develop the stretch of River Ganga between Varanasi to Haldia for navigation of large vessels upto1500-2000 tonnes weight, by maintaining a drought of 2-3 meters in this stretch of the river and setting up other systems required for safe navigation. The objective is to promote inland waterways as a cheaper and more environment-friendly means of transport, especially for cargo movement. 3) Joint Statement of 16th AEM-India Consultations
- Economic Ministers from ten ASEAN Member States and the Minister of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of India (“the Ministers”) met on 10 September 2019 at Bangkok in Thailand for the sixteenth AEM-India Consultations. The Consultations were co-chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce, Thailand, Jurin Laksanawisit and Minister of Railways and Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal.
- The Ministers noted that, based on preliminary ASEAN data, two-way merchandise trade between ASEAN and India grew by 9.8 percent from USD 73.6 billion in 2017 to USD 80.8 billion in 2018. The Ministers were also pleased to note the recovery of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) inflows from India in 2018, amounting to USD 1.7 billion. This placed India as ASEAN’s sixth-largest trading partner and sixth largest source of FDI among ASEAN Dialogue Partners. According to India’s preliminary data, FDI inflows into India from ASEAN in 2018 was USD 16.41 billion, approximately 36.98 percent of total FDI flow into India.

4) Gurugram Police ties up with Google for traffic updates
The Gurugram traffic police have tied up with Google maps for the dissemination of traffic-related information in real-time for public use. The information such as planned road closures, diversions, traffic alerts regarding road crash, etc. is now shared by Gurugram traffic police with Google maps. Based on the information shared by the traffic police, Google maps immediately updates the information on its public maps. For instance, if traffic police plan to close a particular road on a particular date and at a particular time for a proposed marathon, then this information is passed on
to Google maps in advance. Google maps then show the road as closed and automatically redirects the commuters to alternate roads. This mechanism has been tested on numerous occasions and was found to be working effectively.

5) India counters Pakistan’s statements on J&K
India reminded the UN body about its free media, vibrant civil society and institutional framework that upholds human rights in the country. The Indian official in her submission avoided naming Pakistan but pointed at crossborder terrorism emanating from that country that has hurt India.
India also called on the UNHRC to seek global action against terrorists and state sponsors of terror groups

6) India reminds China, not to consider the formation of CPEC on Pok as it is India's territory.
India rejected the reference to Jammu and Kashmir in the latest China Pakistan joint statement and called on both countries to stop activities related to the China Pakistan Economic
Corridor (CPEC) in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
J&K is an integral part of India. India has consistently expressed concerns to both China and Pakistan on the projects in socalled China Pakistan Economic Corridor, which is on the territory of India
that has been illegally occupied by Pakistan since 1947
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi visited Pakistan over the weekend and discussed regional issues. China reiterated its support to Pakistan to protect its territorial integrity and sovereignty.

7) Two new species of ginger discovered in Nagaland
from the Peren district of Nagaland, Zingiber dimapurense was found in the Dimapur district of the State. Details of both discoveries were published in two peerreviewed journals earlier this year. Of the two species, Zingiber dimapurense is taller in size, with leafy shoots measuring 90-120 cm high, whereas the leafy shoots of Zingiber perenense reach up to 70 cm in height.

8) Australia expects 1 mn Indian visitors by 2025
India currently is the most sought after tourism market for Australia. The Australian government's global tourism promotion arm, Tourism Australia, expects the number of Indian visitations to reach five lakh by 2020 and cross 10 lakh by 2025 from some 3.72 lakh during the year ended March 2019.
As the host nation of the ICC T20 World Cup for Women and Men in 2020, Australia is anticipating to sustain its growth trajectory in tourism. The country has recently made its online visa processing simpler and more convenient with no personal visits or need for biometrics. Also, it believes that its currency stability gives it an added attraction among foreign tourists.

9) Exports can help offset economic slowdown, says CII panel
The Union Commerce and Industries Minister’s meeting with exporters and importers on September 11 to discuss trade policy instruments, exporters have flagged certain concerns, saying the government should help build a large capacity for exports instead of announcing measures only for the MSME sector.
The exporters were at the mercy of foreign shipping lines in the absence of a national shipping line. A
national shipping regulatory body should also be formed to determine freight rates. For remedial
measures to protect the huge employment and investments made in SEZs where many units were finding it difficult to carry on their businesses due to some midterm policy changes. The government

The Ministry of Civil Aviation organized India's first-ever helicopter summit in Dehradun. The Indian Air Force was invited at the summit to talk on the "role of IAF helicopters in MEDEVAC (Medical evacuation) at the national level. The conclave was attended by Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat, the Aviation Secretary, and the Chief Secretary of Uttrakhand.
11) The world's highest marathon "Ladakh Marathon" was held in Leh
The 8th edition of the Ladakh Marathon was held in Leh. It is the highest marathon in the world as it is held over 11000 feet above the MSL.
12) Anil Agarwal has been honored with a lifetime achievement award at 19th Annual Asian Achievers Awards 2019 in London
The founder and Chairman of Vedanta Resources Limited, Anil Agarwal (65) have been given the lifetime achievement award at the 19th Annual Asian Achievers Awards 2019 with the theme inclusivity at London's Grosvenor House Hotel, on Park Lane. London Deputy Mayor, Rajesh Agrawal has received the Editor's Award 2019 for Public Services, while BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation ) News Economics Editor, Faisal Islam was selected for the media achievement award. Novelist Jeffery Archer, whose skillful auctioneering helped to raise a £150,000 for chosen 2019' s charity Yuva Unstoppable, a youth movement that works towards educating underprivileged children.
13) 24th World Energy Congress (WEC-2019)
The 24th World Energy Congress (WEC-2019) has started in Abu Dhabi under the patronage of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The WEC aims to bring together international energy stakeholders, including governments, private and state corporations, academia and media. The theme of this Congress is 'Energy for Prosperity', which also represents the ambitious and dynamic energy transition of the country.
14) Asia's first 5th Generation - VR based Advanced Driver Training simulator center launched at Chennai
Asia's first 5th Generation - Virtual Reality based Advanced Driver Training Simulator Centre was launched at the Automobile Association of Southern India Centre (AASI), Chennai. In the first 6 months, AASI will train 200 Ambulance drivers free of cost, under the 'Safe Drivers Campaign'. 15) Centre moves to sell data from the Smart Cities project
Starting with open data a platform for the 100 cities that are a part of its Smart Cities Mission by 2020, the government is planning to make a wide range of data from health, education, finances to social aspects of all 4,041 urban local bodies public by 2024 and eventually monetize it.
This Data will be eventually used for the marketing of products in the smart cities which would help the company to sell its products faster on a particular locality.
