ONE NATION, ONE ELECTION

what is one nation one election
PM Narendra Modi calls meeting for the one nation one election many local parties are opposing the theory of one nation one election like left parties, Mamta Banerjee refused to attend the meeting.

WHAT IS ONE NATION ONE ELECTION THEORY?

In one nation one election theory the polling will occur only one time for all state and central government after every 5 years of tenures. Advantages of one nation one election is it will save countries major economy like whenever there is an election a huge amount is being spend to conduct the election as per the Election commission of India report in 2014 election government has spent around Rs 3,870.3 crore to conduct the election. Many other expenditure also happens in the election like deployment of CRPF and police on polling booth for security reason moment of CRPF through railway all over cost around Rs 10,000 crore to be estimated.

So government is now planning to conduct election all over the nation on the same time only so that it can save our expenditure and the money can be put into the development of the country. There is a drawback also, if government is planning to impose the one nation one election theory for example in 2024 if any state has election in 2023 or 2022 they may have short tenure of governance over a state it may lead dispute between many local parties and the government. There is also a major drawback of falling of a collaboration government if it may fall between the tenure it may create a major dispute in state central government have to look after that also.

Many constitutional article have to be amend like:
·         Article 83 which deals with the duration of house of parliament
·         Article 85 (on dissolution of Lok Sabha by the president)
·         Article 172 (relating to the duration of state legislatures)
·         Article 174 (relating to dissolution of state assemblies)
·         Article 356 (on president’s rule)
The working of election commission also need to be change to perform this kind of election of both state and central government voting. Many local parties are opposing it not to introduce this plan as if there is any particular wave of party then that party would have major chance of winning.
