India’s
second mission to moon, Chandrayaan-2, would be launch on 15th of
July as Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) Chairman K. Sivan has
announced on Wednesday.
The landing
on the moon will be on September 6 or 7 at South Pole, an uncharted territory.
This is the most complex mission of Indian Space Research Organization and is
all set to embark Sivan told. The launch will take place at 2:51 AM on board
GSLV MK-III (Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle) from the spaceport
Shriharikota. The spacecraft weighs 3.8 tonne has three module Orbiter, Lander
(Vikaram) and Rover (Pragyan). Orbiter have eight payloads, Lander three and Rover
two.
The mission cost of Chandrayaan-2 is Rs 603 crore the cost
GSLV MK-III alone is Rs 375 crore. The orbiter payload will revolve around the
moon and the lander will softly land on the lunar surface of the moon rover has
all the scientific payloads for mineralogical and elemental studies on lunar
surface. Rover has mounted with instrument to perform scientific experiment
noting that Lander and orbiter are also mounted with instrument.
The Chandrayaan-2 is an advance mission of the chandrayaan-1
which was launched 10 years ago which have 11 payloads – five from India, three
from Europe, two from US and one from Bulgaria it was around 1.4 tonne spacecraft
with on-board PSLV (Polar Satellite Vehicle Launch).
